Question
I have an abundant supply of pine cones and am shredding them into mulch. I am not sure what the PH factor is for this mulch and if I should be using it in my vegetable and flower gardens.  Can you help me determine what restrictions are on its use?

Hi Ray, I'd use it to plant with and as a mulch.  It may, over time, lower your pH, but you should be checking and adjusting it anyway.
The only down side I can think of would be the pine seedlings you are likely to get. I suspect there are many seeds in the cones that would survive the shredder.  Jim
