QuestionI have some white stuff growing on the soil outside in one area of my yard. It was there last year and i scraped it off and tried different things on it but it came back this year. I have been cutting back on watering but it doesn't help. The white material can get thick. It's appearance looks like the surface of a caulflower.
AnswerHi Judy, It is a fungus. The majority of it is underground, what you see is mostly the reproductive structures. You may be able to control it with a fungicide applied regularly but I would just break it up with a hard rake and not worry about it. Jim
