Question
I live in so. Texas and in one part of a shady lawn and void of grass there are two 4" high objects coming out of the ground, They are brown and look woody but if you hit them they fall to the ground and orange dust comes out. They will began to grown upward again. We thought mushrooms except that orange-rust dust so is this a fungus and how do we get rid of it?

Hi Peggy, It is a mushroom, the orange dust coming out... billions of spores.  Spraying with a lawn approved fungicide will eventually stop it, but it's not harming anything.  When they come up in my yard, I just kick them over before the spores are ripe.  Jim
