Hi Jim,
If there is weed killer or pesticides in the soil is it safe to plant ornamental shrubs? Or does the soil need to be removed?

Hi Emily, I'm only concerned if it's herbicides.  You can plant almost immediately after some herbicides, but some may persist in the soil up to a year or more.  If you're not sure what might be in the soil, sow the area with a few peas.  If they come up and grow normally, then I'd plant. Jim
