Question
Could you tell me how much soil I will need?  I have 2 raised beds that are 4x4ft in size and 8" deep.  Also 2 - 4x8 ft. also 8" deep.  Right now there is about 1/2 ft. of straw and 1/2 ft of compost in the boxes now.
I will appreciate your expertise.

Hi Debra, If the beds were empty, each smaller one would need just over 10.5 cubic feet of soil.  The larger beds would need twice that or about 21 cubic feet of soil each.  But the amount of soil you need will depend on how much of the existing compost and straw you are wanting to add to your mix.  You said the beds were 8" deep yet you have 6" of compost and 6" of straw in each...sounds like they are overflowing!
