Hi, What is the easiest/best way to lighten heavy soil?
ours has some clay below, but the useable part is about 10" thick and is HEAVY.

Hi Dave, When it's dry enough to work, spread 6" of organic matter on top and till it into the top 8" - 10" of your soil.  My preference would be finely ground pine bark (80%) and the rest manure, leaf mold, grass clippings, compost, etc.  Then drop by a bait shop and get as may earthworms as you can afford and release them into the area.  Jim
