QuestionHello -I have a question about how to fix my backyard. Over the years, it seems to have gotten more and more uneven, higher in some places than in others, with little sunken,pot-hole like areas at random. We tried to even the ground after a heavy rain period last spring (using one of those big rollers) but it didn't do any good. I can barely push the lawnmower over some of these areas. Also, there's a 10x20 foot space that used to be part of the driveway, so it's full of rocks and gravel and houses mostly weeds. It seems like the only way to fix it is to kill off the grass, then even out the soil by hand, then reseed. Do you have any advice on the best way to do this? Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks.
AnswerHi Carmelle, Unfortunately there aren't any easy ways to level an area. Your options are...
1. Bring in additional soil. This needs to be the same type soil that you have there now, not bagged top soil.
2. Till the area and rake it out.
3. Have a tractor with a box blade level it. This is the quickest and easiest, but not the cheapest.
All of these will require reseeding or sodding. Jim
