QuestionWill this also help the mushroom problem. ------------------------- Followup To Question - Our lawn is becoming over run by moss and mushroom. How can I rectify this problem. I am especially fearful of the mushrooms. I know that some mushrooms can be poisoness and I have three dogs that room my yard and I fear they may eat one. Answer - Hi Fran, You must carryout the following operations / procedures:- Scarify the lawn in the autumn. Apply silver sand in the spring. Keep the lawn well fed with a high nitrogen and potassium based fertiliser during the growing season. Re-seed bare patches in spring. If the lawn is large I would seriusly consider hiring a greenkeeper or lawn maintenance specialist. They would be able to take over and implement this programme for you. Hope this helps. AnswerHi Fran,
The procedures I gave you are mainly aimed at moss control.
You would need to tackle the fungus separately. I do not know what chemicals you have available in US as I live in the UK but you need to treat the fungus with a fungicide drench that you can buy from any good garden centre.
In the UK we use a product called Armillotox and also FungusFighter.
You could hire a lawn specialist whom will have stronger versions of these chemicals you simply do not have access to.
Hope this helps.
