QuestionHi, Larry!
I am a landscape architect working in Camira (near Brisbane) and design both exotic and native gardens.
Which soil would you recommend for native plants in general? So far, I specified a mix of "Natural Soil" & "Black Label Organic Blend".
Thank you very much for any information!
Marion
AnswerHello Marion
Soil composition should be based on the type of plantings selected for the area and its enviroment. Every plant tree or shrub has its own culture and preferred enviroment. your soil mix should be based on that. Most do well in well drained organic types, others need more retention for a moist condition. the prefered mix is 45% clay 45% sand and 10% of organic material such as compost or peat moss.
do a soil test of the area and start from there, then you can either select plants for what you have or amend the soil for what you want. Good Luck Larry ;-)
