QuestionDear Larry,
I am wondering if a ranch style limestone home constructed of IN limestone will have a great effect on the soil for foundation plantings. Shoud I try to lower the ph, or is there not much of an effect of the limestone in the building? The soil has not been tested and other plants seem ok, except for roses, which become defoliated. Thank you very much.

It wil have no effect whatsoever, in order for nutrients to be absorbed by plants, they must be part of the soil.
As long as they still are rock they will not benifit the nutritional part of growth, only after the rock breaks down after years of exposure will the limestone benifit the soil. good Luck Larry ;-)
