Help!

Question
I have recently bought my first home and acreage.  I have just over three acres of what you to be a soybean field.  It is filled with ruts, immpossible to mow, hard to bush hog. And brush that stays dry almost year round.  The ground seems to be mostly clay, which is bad, because we live near a creek that frequently suffers minor flooding.  My property has not had any flooding yet but I would like to help make it less likely.  There are no trees!!!  Now that I look back I have no idea why I purchesed this property.  I try to remain optamistic, and just try and come up with ideas to make it better.  I have thought about tearing up the top few inches of soil and mixing it with compost, manure or something, and then redistributing evenly it over the property. Is this the best way to handle this?  Please help point me in the right direction.
A recap of my main goals; fill in ruts, add nurshiment to soil, improve drainage, and grass, trees, bushes peferably fast growing easy maintance.  I live in Arkansas (might help!)

Answer
Hey there
Try to get a farmer to plow and drag the area for ya otherwise i would suguest renting or hiring someone with a bobcat to help renovate the area. adding compost is a good idea it will improve the drainage in the soil. then check out trees and bushes at a nursery and find something you like that will do well for your location. then be creative.
Good Luck  larry  ;-)
